Do you notice that the “Holiday Season” seems to start earlier and earlier every year? This year, one particular big-box retailer started their shop-for-Christmas television commercials BEFORE Halloween!
We are told that buying, buying, buying is the expected mode for the season. Whether it is Black Friday or Cyber Monday, shopping and spending money on things is the expectation. And yes, shopping for stuff and giving gifts does feel good. It is heartwarming to see the smiles on faces as they open the presents you have given.
But consider the bigger picture.
There are so many folks in our communities who are struggling to put dinner on their Thanksgiving table…. to afford even one gift for their child… or the basics such as warm clothing for the winter season.
And there are many folks in our communities who will not be struggling. Those who have all that they need and want. Those who have more warm clothing than they can wear in a season. Those who have more food (and leftovers) than they can consume themselves.
We ask those who are blessed to have enough… consider giving.
That’s what #GivingTuesday is all about!
At Impact Thrift Stores, we are blessed by your generosity! On a daily basis, you are donating that extra “stuff” in your lives (furniture, clothing, shoes, books, even cars…) to help us support so many local charities doing work in our communities to support families and children in crisis.
You are donating your time as you organize Collection Drives, volunteer in our Donation Processing Center and our stores.
You are certainly welcome to donate money… Impact Thrift Stores is a participant in United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania’s Donor Choice Program. If you would like to donate to our organization, our agency’s code number is 49421 or click here if you’d like to make a cash donation to our mission.
After the hoopla of the Thanksgiving weekend has died down… consider what you can give.
As part of the national Giving Tuesday initiative, a number of non-profits in Bucks County have joined to form #GivingTuesdayBucks. You are invited to “Give a gift that makes an impact” right here in our community. Click here to learn more about GivingTuesdayBucks!
