Growing older… it begins the moment we are born. And although we have our whole lives to deal with that impending reality, most of us have a hard time accepting it. When old age arrives, we are often unprepared…
Far too many elderly in our communities are unable to meet their own needs. They have no one to support them…often times they are forgotten. Many of our elderly neighbors, friends, and family members need someone to care for them, to assist them with day to day activities or to help with obtaining necessities, such as air conditioners, medications, beds, hearing aids. Sometimes they would simply like to have someone just sit and talk with them. However, thanks to Cheryl Campbell, many seniors are blessed in a special way…
Cheryl Campbell is the founder of TCG, Inc. (The Christmas Gala), a 501(c)3 non-profit organization focused on lending a hand to assist local seniors, primarily in the Bucks County, PA. They try to fill a need whether its supplying blankets, toiletries, or spending time with seniors, listening to “remember when” stories.
The Christmas Gala began as a family and friends function held at her home every year. Cheryl, putting her heart and soul into this organization, wanted so badly to make the event much larger to be able to help more of our local seniors. With the assistance of social workers and private referrals, The Christmas Gala has been able to expand from Bristol Township, covering a larger area consisting of Bristol Township, Bensalem, Bristol Borough, and Morrisville.
According to Cheryl, “I see The Christmas Gala growing a little more each year. With each bit of growth I see the group expanding our skill sets reaching out to a larger community. And continue to make more people aware of what the real needs of our elderly community are.”
Impact Thrift is proud to shine a spotlight on TCG, Inc.
On Tuesday, November 5th, at 12pm, the Feasterville Impact Thrift store will partner with Cheryl Campbell to kick off her “Giving Tree” Campaign which will run through December 2. We will have a “Giving Tree” in our store, with “Giving Tree Gift Certificate Tickets”. Customers will have the opportunity to purchase a gift certificate in various dollar amounts, to be used toward the emergency needs of a senior in their own local community.
