It’s not every day we can go surfing, but we can dream!
Come summer this repurposed single-bed surfboard/headboard won’t be hotdogging in the waves. It will become a bodacious bench for the back patio.
After purchasing this find in the bedding department at Impact Thrift’s Feasterville store, Joan Marie worked with her husband Ron, and grandsons Cole and Owen, to create a bench. They found a sturdy kitchen wall cabinet that was discarded after a kitchen redesign, and removed the doors.
This became the base for the bench. The boys put their muscle into sanding the boards for the seat.
Ron used his jig saw to notch out two squares to fit around the headboard legs and they used an electric drill to attach the bench boards atop the cabinet base. (See close up and rear view photos.)
Brackets were used to secure the headboard to the back of the cabinet base.
To finish the project, a piece of scroll trim was mounted on the front. The boys may want the new bench in their room, but it will most likely be surfing its way to the patio as soon as the snow melts!
