Thanks4GivingPhilly clothing drive sponsored by Advent to benefit North Light Community Center and Impact Thrift Stores

Gratitude. Thankfulness. Grace.

The Thanksgiving holiday as we know it, started as a simple gathering to offer thanks for surviving a particularly harsh winter and the subsequent bountiful harvest season. It has evolved into a family-filled gathering, complete with turkey and football.

But the true spirit of Thanksgiving is very strong in our local communities. All over the region, community groups are gathering their resources to assist those less fortunate. One such endeavor is the #Thanks4GivingPhilly Clothing Drive.

November 1st through November 30th, North Light Community Center is partnering with Impact Thrift,  for a donation drive to collect gently-used clothing and shoes.

North Light Community Center will receive money for every pound collected. The funds raised will support programs such as: after-school programs, day camps, recreational activities, educational services/scholarships, emergency assistance, and food cupboards, thus cultivating a vibrant community. Since its inception, North Light has relied on donations from individuals, foundations and businesses to keep their programs accessible and affordable. The Thanks4Giving donation drive will enable North Light to fulfill their mission to positively change lives and better communities.

North Light Community Center websiteImpact Thrift will receive the Thanks4Giving donated items which will either be sold at one of Impact Thrift’s four stores (Hatboro, Montgomeryville, Norristown, Feasterville) or responsibly recycled, and the net proceeds will then benefit other locally-based non-profit organizations that feed the hungry, shelter the homeless, and educate the youth as well as provide help to families and children in crisis.

The Thanks4Giving Drive, presented by Advent, is the perfect example of the community coming together to donate goods for the greater good. Organizations such as:  Advent, Roxborough Development Corporation, Kappa Alpha PSI Fraternity, and the Manayunk/Roxborough Business Network have joined forces to support the drive, which benefits North Light’s families and Impact Thrift’s locally-based charities.
