Why is it only clothing in the new Impact in Bristol. Clothing is fine but I would imagine that more money would be spent by customers (myself included) if home goods and possibly smaller furniture articles (if space is limited) were also on sale. Therefore, the Impact Store will be helping the buyer as well as the charity. It would also increase the amount set aside for the charity. Isn’t that the whole idea?

    • Gail, As the majority of our business relies on merchandise donations, we really are limited to those items folks are willing to part with. There is a seasonality to furniture/bric-a-brac/housewares donations that leaves us with much lighter supplies during certain times of year. You’ve probably noticed that we have started carrying some new furniture which helps us supplement donations and maintain our furniture sales floors. Clothing on the other hand, is donated in abundance and amounts to more than 60% of items donated with a much higher percentage of re-salable goods. We would love to open more stores with all departments filled – and hope to in the future – but in order to do that with our current donation levels, the other stores would have to lighten up on their furniture and housewares. We didn’t want to diminish their stock at this point and chose to open this smaller, clothing-only store instead. ~Jill
