Get to know the American Heart Association…
The American Heart Association is the nation’s oldest and largest voluntary health organization dedicated to fighting cardiovascular disease and stroke, our nation’s #1 and #5 leading causes of death. To improve the lives of all Americans, the American Heart Association provides public health education in a variety of ways. The nation’s leader in CPR education training, they help people understand the importance of healthy lifestyle choices. The American Heart Association provides science-based treatment guidelines to healthcare professionals to help them provide quality care to their patients and educates lawmakers, policymakers and the public as they advocate for changes to protect and improve the health of our communities. Visit www.heart.org for more information and valuable tools to help you take control of your health.
Last year, the American Heart Association funded over $19 million in research grants throughout Pennsylvania, many here in the Philadelphia area. They are also currently working to make CPR a graduation requirement for high school seniors in our state. In the Bristol area of Lower Bucks County, the American Heart Association has partnered with Lower Bucks Hospital, who holds certification as a Primary Stroke Center, to bring year-round education and messaging to the community through the hospital’s My Heart. My Life. Platform, culminating with the Lower Bucks HeartChase event in the fall. HeartChase is the newest signature of the event of the American Heart Association that brings education and awareness through a smart-phone based team competition.
